In the United Arab Emirates, banks are required to verify your identity before you can open an account. To do this, you must present a valid passport and a copy, a valid residence visa, a “no objection certificate” (NOC) from your employer that states your status and salary, proof of address (e.g., a tenancy agreement or utility bill), and at least two passport photographs. Some banks may also ask for an Emirates identification card. Non-residents are allowed to open a savings account and get a debit card with just a passport and tourist visa. Contact your bank for its exact requirements.
You’ll need to decide what type of account(s) to open, which will depend on how you like to access your money and how frequently you’d like to do so.
